| In early 2003, Flinders University approved
our request to spend a considerable part of a bequest given
to us by the late Mrs. Joyce Schultz to set up a new small
research aircraft.
We selected the ECO-Dimona which was purchased from Diamond
Aircraft in Canada.

She arrived at ARA in a 44" sea container late in 2003

The next step was to get her
on the Australian register. That process took about 8 weeks.
The ARA Engineer Rudi Gaissmaier did most
of the work, assisted by Bruce Ramsay of AUSCAN and John White
of John White Avionics and his staff, and Bruce Goode from
CASA. Thanks to all for your efforts.
In early January, we received the Australian
Certificate of Airworthiness for VH-EOS, the call sign of
our new aircraft - short for Earth Observation System.
She was also given a new paint scheme to
indicate her purpose and to integrate her into the rest of
the fleet.

And then the big day arrived: she had her first
flight on 19 January 2004 piloted by Jorg. |
